Sunday services
We have a Sunday morning service starting at 10.30am in the building.
What happens in a Sunday Service?
We sing together as an act of worship to God. People can join in as and if they wish.
Someone presents Mission of the Month - a (usually) Christian organisation, mission or charity.
We pray (talk to God) together, usually as led by one person.
We celebrate Holy Communion ("Lord's Supper", "Eucharist"), in which we remember Jesus' sacrifice by small pieces of bread and grape juice.
We read from the Bible - which we take to be God's Communication to Humankind in written form.
We usually listen to a speaker (the "talk" or "sermon") explaining what the Bible says about an aspect of life or the Christian faith.
- See tips and advice on getting the best from a talk.
- Some of the talks are recorded.
- These are available on the page, Recorded Talks, amd downloads.
- Most have text transcripts or outlines.
Sometimes, instead of listening to a speaker, we break up into small groups to discuss questions about the Bible passage.
We usually give people a chance to make an offering - to give money; this is NOT obligatory, but is an act of worship that some people like to do.
Style of Sunday Service
Each service is different.
The order of the above activities varies from week to week.
Our style is relaxed and mainly informal, and we encourage people to be themselves.
We use today’s language.
At times we like to be joyful and thankful for our experience of God. At other times we like to be quiet and reflective. At yet other times, we like to be challenged.
Refreshments
At the end of the Sunday morning service we usually have tea and coffee together in the church hall. You are welcome to stay and chat with us. There is no charge.
