The pages are designed to be widely accessible and do not assume any particular operating system or web browser. At the start of 2016 the remaining accesskey attributes were removed.

Website Technical Information

The site uses HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) but should be usable without CSS, specifically HTML 5.2 and CSS 3.

Website version 1. Up till May 2024, the Website was maintained for many years by Martin Ansdell-Smith (MBE: awarded for his services to computer connectivity and Internet standards in the UK Government Department of Education). To this date, the pages were built using free software including GNU m4 macro processor and sed stream editor together with W3C tidy-html5 validator, vim editor and git version control. The main pages that are liable to change were built from .php files. The site was reachable via both IPv4 and IPv6. The canonical site, https://mscc.org/, was also available http://mscch.org/. Audio files are only available via https.

Website version 2. However, on failure of the hardware around May 2024, the site became unavailable, until March 2025, when Martin passed ownership of the domain name mscc.org to Andrew Basden who, with the help of Dr. Stephen McGibbon (to whom many thanks), was able to recover the May 2024 version of the site from the Wayback Machine, and hosted the site on Clook.

When the Wayback Machine accessed the .php files, the site returned resultant HTML rather than PHP code, so the latter remained unknown. So it was decided to abandon PHP and convert the site entirely to static HTML, and edit it manually.

This editing began 12 March 2025 and is still underway.
